Boxes Because …
I love boxes. I always have. Because nothing says potential like an unfilled space, waiting in a silent plea for me to fill it.
From antique steamer trunks and vintage hat boxes, to a tiny opal inlaid bit of silver barely large enough to hold a secret. Boxes carry latent possibility – a character trait I get along with well.
I encourage you to become a collector. Fill your days with boxes of exotic shapes, odd sizes, and unexpected materials. Fill them with wishes, with daydream sketches, and promises of “someday.” Fill them with memories, hurts you’ve let go of, and ambitious curiosities of every kind. Fill them with every part of who you are and tuck their contents into the brightest places of your soul. Because that’s the thing of it … they are meant to fill, to enjoy … not to fit ourselves into.
Too often this life will try to take you over; it will contort and shift you into something package-able. But in this series of moments and months you are blessed with, conformity is not your calling. You are a curator – an artist, displaying the entirety of your being as a legacy across time and space. So while you are commissioned to living out of the beautiful boxes you fill … remember your heart and mind should never be containable. Your spirit should be ever-too restless to fit anywhere but free.
Filling Your Boxes
Take a moment to gather your emotions, your experiences, and the elements that combine to define the character of your spirit. Imagine categorizing and placing each of the following pieces of you, questioning what kind of box would be needed to hold each feature. For each component ask yourself: Do you need a lot of room, or only a little? Is the box decorative, functional, or both? Is it a polished, new container, or is it dusty from lack of need or use? Is the box closed, or open to new additions? Seek to free your spirit a little more by filling your paper boxes, and breathing in the creation of your curation.

Love this so much. I can’t wait to write about just what box I would put emotions inside. And then my favorite part who and when they will be opened!

What a wonderful thought! I too think about this and have decided that I will require many boxes for my many emotions, though I have a feeling they’d be too big to fit into many boxes at all! Thanks for sharing Michelle!

I loved your ideas regarding boxes. I have boxes that
I have accumulated from traveling around the world.
I could see an amazing workshop being developed the boxes theme.
I adore Bella Grace.
Sincerely,
