Little Luxuries to Help Get Through Gray Days

Little Luxuries to Help Get Through Gray Days

Even the grayest days of winter can be brightened up with life’s little luxuries.

Winter is a season that so many of us romanticize. In the midst of summer, we long for rainy or snowy days that leave us stuck indoors under a cozy blanket with the fireplace roaring. Of course, after a month of being cooped up we begin to feel restless again and look forward to warmer days. Here are a few of my favorite things to help get me through the gray days of winter.

  • Decadent body lotion to help keep my skin super soft despite the dry air
  • A large stash of candles to create a cozy glow throughout the house
  • A subscription service that makes me look forward to getting the mail (my current favorite is Book of the Month Club)
  • Supermarket flowers to help brighten my living room and to serve as a reminder that spring is just around the corner
  • A new mug to sip all that coffee and tea from
  • Cozy loungewear … if you’re going to be stuck at home, you may as well be super comfortable!
  • The softest blanket possible
  • Sheet masks to keep my face moisturized

None of these things cost very much at all but they make me feel so good despite all the gloomy weather. What are your favorite little luxuries to help you get through this time of year?

I love an occasional cold gray day…Those are pamper myself days..My favorite creature comforts include warm jammies, fuzzy slippers, a favorite book to read, a promising roll of photos to edit..Not to forget coffee, COFFEE, more coffee 🙂

I love to go to the local coffee roasters and pick up a couple of their recommended roasts based on my particular likes. As soon as I get home, I grind the beans and make my coffee the with slow “pour-over” method, watching the coffee “bloom” while deeply inhaling the scent of the coffee. I have some large pottery coffee mugs, which I save for days when I have the time to enjoy the entire process; I pour a large mug, lace it with a bit of cream, find a great movie on TV and relish my coffee, the movie and the gift of the cold day.

I don’t drink coffee, but your description of making it is so glorious it makes me dearly wish I did like coffee so I could have this experience as well! ????
