Why You Should Create an Inspiration Board

Surrounding oneself with inspiration is a simple and special way to add magic to your day. I love displaying an inspiration board in my workspace to spark creativity and remind me of all of the beautiful things that make my heart sing! From magazine clippings, ticket stubs, and polaroids, to handwritten letters, receipts, and beloved quotes, there are countless items that can easily be displayed as reminders of life’s beauty.

Below are a few tips to put together your very own display of inspiring mementos!

Tips for Creating an Inspiration Board:

1. What Makes Your Heart Sing?

Before you begin putting together your inspiration board, make a list of things that make your heart sing. Maybe it’s a scene of your favorite movie or the chocolate chip cookies your mom made when you were little. It could be the way the sky looks after it’s rained or the song that instantly lifts your spirits.

When your list is complete, search for photos or mementos that represent each item. For example, you can print an image of your favorite movie scene or type out a special recipe in your favorite font.

2. Treasured Memories

Next, gather souvenirs that transport you to your most treasured memories. These can include anything from receipts, faded photographs, handwritten notes, or even pieces of jewelry.

3. Quotes

I always love browsing through Bella Grace for inspiring words! Scan and make copies of magazine pages featuring heartfelt quotes or handwrite them yourself for a personalized touch.

4. Get Creative

Now that you’ve compiled an assortment of beautiful inspiration, lay each item on a flat surface and experiment with different ways to arrange them. You may want to organize your pieces of inspiration by creating piles according to color. This will allow you to discover which items coordinate best.

Once you have decided on an arrangement, take a picture of it with your phone. Reference this photo as you pin the items to your inspiration board.

5. A Dash of Sparkle

As a final touch of inspiration, it is always fun to add elements to your board that catch the light. You can hang necklaces or bracelets or even use earrings instead of thumbtacks!

What would you include on your inspiration board? I would love to hear what inspires you most in the comments below!

I use favorite fabric swatches, paint color palettes, favorite art pics, quotes, ATCs, collected ephemera and pieces of my own art.

I have been saving bits of art, collage, small charms, favorite sayings. Now I know what to do with them . Making a inspirational board would be a great idea, instead of leaving all my favorite things in a file folder. THANKS

The last few months I have been more intentional on creating space and opportunities for the little joys, the touches of magic, inspiration and beauty. I simply found myself in a season where I wanted to engage with my life and surrounding in a new way. Adding a board is another creative way to do this!! Thanks for sharing!
