Happy National Handwriting Day! This day and age when we’re so often typing on keyboards and screens, it’s important to remember the power and uniqueness we each hold just by using our own handwriting. Putting a pen to paper is a beautiful way to express oneself. As William Wordsworth once advised, “Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart,” we encourage you to celebrate National Handwriting Day by doing just that! Here are a few simple ways we can celebrate handwriting today:

3 Simple Ways to Celebrate National Handwriting Day

1. Write a letter to a friend

There’s nothing quite like receiving a handwritten note. Because we’re so accustomed to receiving texts and emails, sending handwritten notes is a particularly special gesture. Surprise a friend by writing a letter and sending it in the mail. For an extra thoughtful touch, write the recipient’s name and address in decorative letters!

2. Write in your journal

Writing down your daily musings, daydreams, and cherished memories is a wonderful way to keep a record of your life. One day when you look back on your journal pages, you’ll not only be able to recall precious moments, but see how your handwriting has changed over time.

3. Write a list of your dreams and goals

Research shows that if you write information with pen and paper rather than a keyboard, you are more likely to create a deeper connection to the words and remember them. Writing a list of your dreams and goals by hand is a great way to keep them in forefront of your mind as you embark on the journey to make them come true!
